Results

Looks like it’s going to be a scorcher of a day today.

A-Level results are out today, and as ususal there’s the big debate over whether they’re getting easier, articles here, here, here and here

My sister gets her results today, so I hope she does well. I’ll call her later and find out.

Thanks for chipping in and using the comments stuff, feel free to continue, it’s good to get some feedback and discussion going (yes, you can comment on other people’s comments too).

As you might have noticed Mr Dominik is suggesting that I’ve been creating a false illusion, pretending that I’m too dead after work to do diary updates, and then I go and ship over to this place.

So here’s the full story. I do feel pretty dead after a day at work. Typing in a diary entry actually wasn’t really the problem, the problem was working through afterwards to get the page up there. Fonts, titles, links (lots of links) and so on. This gizmo releases me from that, and lets me just type an entry when I like with the minimum of surrounding fuss.

As to getting this new thingy running. It took little more than an hour, after all it is pre-packaged software, it’s not like I had to write it myself.

Rob Sullivan also wondered if it cost anything. For non-commercial use (ie. this) the software is free. You need somewhere to host, which will need a DB backend (even though the pages you’re reading aren’t DB sourced) and a place for you to put CGI files, but that’s pretty normal for semi-decent hosting. So all in all little cost and very little effort. And the return is saving me a lot of work (which is the whole point of PCs).

More later I hope.
