Phil’s Diary - [Blog @ http://www.philsdiary.net/]
Oh well, even if the ADSL thing was a little dissapointing/frustrating, today was a nice relaxing day, definately worthy of the “lazy weekend” label.
If you’ve any idea what this was all about, I’m sure there are a good few thousand people who’d like to know. I’m just curious.
Did you watch the F1 qualifying today? Montoya not only took pole position, but posted the fastest ever lap of an F1 track (a record held by Keke Rosberg for the past 17years at 160.938mph) , averaging 161.449mph, covering the 3.3mile track in 1:20.264.
In doing so the BMW engine powering the car was running at over 19,000rpm, which in itself is pretty amazing.
Those of you over the other side of the pond more familiar with oval racing may be wondering what all the fuss is about. However if you take a look at the Monza circuit (the first image shows the track being used for F1) you’ll see there’s no banking, some chicanes, and a fair few corners.
And with that (which probably bored most of you to tears), I’ll leave you for today.
