Phil’s Diary - [Blog @ http://www.philsdiary.net/]
Well today went well, weather was nice enough, work busy, but not too bad at all, as usual plenty to do. I’ve managed to stay in a much better mood today. which is always a good thing.
Thanks to the helpful emails from Wendy, and Svenson. Also to JHR for these wise words (which some others may find useful):
“I have a parable from John Enright, a guru whom I greatly admired: In the parable, someone awoke one day to find him/her/it self strapped into a chair. A painful, but not harmful shock was administered at random intervals od 10-30 seconds. Desperately exploring its environment, the subject discovered a button underneath the chair arm that, if kept depressed, eliminated the shocks entirely.
Point: Your life is under your control. If it needs changing - you can change it. First, however, there are decisions to be made:
* Are you willing to stick to changing your life, never letting up for an instant on the button - or suffering the inevitable shock?
* Do you have any assurance that your changed life will make you more happy? Consider your current blessings - and you have many, if you count them: Youth, a good mind and a good education, a really nice car, a good and supportive family, and much, much more.”
Thanks.
