Under the Bonnet

On the way back home tonight one of my colleagues indicated that I was a full-beam headlight down, so on the way back I stopped in at Halfords and bought a new bulb. Lots of dirt and fiddling later, and I find the new bulb doesn’t work.

Not good.

So I do a little testing. Trying the new bulb in the working socket, which works. So with fingers crossed (hoping it’s not the wiring/sockets… expensive), I take a look at the fuses.

Strangely it seems that someone has switched the 7.5A engine control fuse with the 15A left headlight fuse. That blew the 7.5A fuse. No left headlight.

So on my bike back to halfords (dark now), and some new fuses in my hand I ride back (too many hills between mine and ther), and pop them in place.

And now I have working headlights. Some spare fuses, a spare headlight bulb, and a bit of a sweat :)

Time to relax a little me thinks.
