Phil’s Diary - [Blog @ http://www.philsdiary.net/]
Another scorcher of a day. I get back from the supermarket at 10am, and it’s already far too hot to be lifting shopping around.
I try and order myself a DVD player, and find they’re out stock (and unlike other e-tailers, you can’t order one until they have stock, interesting). So next is some surge protection, and I find that site dead too. Oh well, no hurry.
I watch the qualifying for this weekends German F1 Grand Prix, and then get off to the cinema to watch Swordfish. Quite a good film, one of the better ones I’ve seen in recent weeks. My usual way of telling if it’s any good is if I look at my watch to see what time it is, and this film held my attention throughout. Some interesting "inaccuracies", but that’s just me being picky (and they’re not all computer related either).
Talking of annoyingness. The new Dell advert for a Pentium 4 describes the system as having "128 Rambus RDRAM", 128 bits? 128 chickens? They even flash this magic bit of text on the screen. Hmmm.
I’ve got more Linux odds and ends to put up, but my hands have had a pretty hard working this week, with lots of typing at work and at home, and they are due for a rest. More as and when I can.
The evening rolls past and the weather is still hot when I go to sleep, or rather try to.
