Someone did something bizarre to my car last night. They twisted the rear windscreen wiper, enough to stop it working. But not enough for it to be exactly obvious. There’s two things I don’t like being broken, and my car is one of them. That said, I am glad that a bent wiper was all the damage that was done.
Work starts with me sorting out some backup planning, and a Christmas greeting screen.
At lunch time I disappear to the garage, where a mechanic there does some bending and still can’t get it quite right, so I hand over a wodge of cash, and a new part (wiper arm). There’s nothing to say that the replacement arm will fix the problem (the actual motor could have been moved), but I’m hoping.
I then battle through the Oxford city gridlock (and it’s not even close to rush-hour!) for 45minutes (the journey used to take 10), to collect Tony, network manager from the station.
Back to work to get started on some MI stats for a client, while Tony moves some machines to allow us to put a partition wall in the server room.
I get away around 6:30, and home to some food, TV and finally a chance to update these pages. Then I find that, while I can now read my email (not via POP3 yet though), and you can see my pages, I can’t update them. As with POP3, FTP isn’t working. This makes posting these pages a little tricky. I’ll keep writing them, and post as soon as I can. Further apologies.
