Another solid day at work followed by a drink at the pub, and then an interesting drive home. Serious rain, such that there were waves coming off the cars in front. Was glad to get home and out of the stuff.
Then I find that my computer is dead. What was it locking up yesterday could well have been a symptom of a more severe problem. Now I get power, the machine turns on, fans spin harddisks spin up, but then that’s it. It goes no further. No beeps, no BIOS screens, nothing. I start by disconnecting harddisks and taking out uneeded cards. Still nothing. What bothers me here is that I’m not hearing any POST beeps at all. So I strip down to just the motherboard, and discharge the CMOS. Nothing. I’m guessing motherboard deadness. Possibly CPU.
Pain.
