Busy and stressful day at work today. I think the thing that gets my stress levels up the most is trying to manage situations that are really out of my control. Trying to manage people from another company, or trying to look like you’re in control of a situation (and so being asked questions about it), when you’re not the one calling the shots (and so don’t know the answer).
I’ve plenty of that today, as well as lots and lots of work.
To cap it all off, the temperatures today, while lovely for sunbathing, aren’t really that great when your office has no aircon and feels like a dry sauna. I reckon half of my late afternoon computer problems were due to the rising temps.
Someday I’ll either learn to live with stuff like this, to manage it, or at least manage my stress levels. At least I hope so, otherwise I’m destined for a career change. (To be fair I did manage today, as best I could, I just didn’t enjoy it particularly).
Lots of people have worse trouble than me, lots of people have more serious complaints. I think myself lucky most days (even today), but there’s not point settling for what you’ve got. Take the day, see what was causing the problems, and then see if you can rectify them, or improve them. No sense beating yourself up when you don’t need ot I guess.
