Spending Money - part 2

The other weekend I went to my local Blockbuster and rented three DVDs, which cost me just less than £12 for one night. I thought that was a little expensive, so today I had a look around for an pnline DVD rental system. I’ve seen a few reviews of these over in the US and they looked like quite a good idea.

The plan is that you pay a monthly charge. You can then borrow a DVD. When you’ve finished with that DVD you send it back, and they then send you the next one on your wish-list, and so on ad infinitum.

First off, with the pricing as is, if I were to rent three DVDs in one month, it would be cheaper than blockbuster. The other upside is that the rental period is as long as I like. This is handy as it means I don’t need to rush to watch a film.

The other side is that it’s less hassle to go and get the DVD as it’s all done by post.

The downsides are reasonably obvious. The first is that you can have the DVD when you want it. But that’s life.

I’ve got a 14day free trial, I’ll let you know how it goes. I’ve read of lots of potential problems with some of the US versions, so I’ve at least been warned. That said friends have tried this service before now and found it quite good.
