Delicate Job

It’s a good job I’m not completely incompetent when it comes to using my hands. A few minutes before I set off to visit my parents yesterday my cars CD changer decided to through a wobbly. Every now and again it jams a CD in, and it takes a bit of physical force to remove the cartridge and then the CD. But it’s doable.

This time however it was having none of it, and locked the cartridge firmly in place, a few whirs but nothing moving, and no way to pull it out.

So with a few more tools here at my parents I’ve just removed, dissassembled, unlocked and reassembled it. And it seems to work.

It wasn’t half a pain though, dampers, springs, ribbon cables, and lots of inaccessible and awkward screws. But with it in many pieces I managed to find the cartdrige lock, and unlock it, and all seems to be better now.

I hope it stays that way.
