Phil’s Diary - [Blog @ http://www.philsdiary.net/]
Does writing this make me abnormal or weird? Have I got a screw loose? I’ve got to wonder. Every now and again I get an email comment, that having read this the reader thinks the above (got one last night).
I’ll be the first to admit I’m not stereotypical. I’m not exactly totally abnormal either. Comfortably individual would be a good way of putting it. I do normal things, I wear normal clothes, I do a normal job, and drive a normal car. I eat normal food and drink normal drinks. My flat is pretty normal, as is my kitchen.
I don’t watch back to back star-trek episodes every night. Nor do I wonder the streets at night looking like a throwback to the sixties thinking I’m hip and trendy. I don’t eat “alternative” foods, and my flat isn’t powered by solar energy. My hair isn’t particularly un-stylish either.
Like I said, I think I’m comfortably individual. I do pretty normal things, but maybe the balance is ever so slightly shifted from the stereotypical norm. Not shifted excessively, but just a little. I spend a little more time in front of a PC than some, but likewise I spend a little more time driving for the fun of it. I spend too much time watching TV too. I read a little, not enough, and eat too much.
What am I getting at?
I’m saying I’m me. I’m not that strange. But what you read here are selected “interesting” events that occur during my day. They’re selected, they’re not totally representative of time spent either. You don’t want to hear day in day out of the same thing. What’s the point in that? Instead you get to hear about the abnormal things. Stuff that doesn’t happen very often.
Don’t judge me on what you read here. It’ll give a picture I’m sure, but it’s not the real me. The real me has a whole load more facets, and does lots of the more mundane and boring things on a day to day basis.
