White Wedding

Been at a wedding in Sheffield all day today (or at least in transit to or from it). More detail when I’ve got more time (Sunday evening then). Hope you’re having a good weekend.

Right, more detail.

Set off about 9:30, and took far too long to get to Sheffield. Problem was a couple of accidents and lots of roadworks on the M1.

Once in Sheffield the directions I’d been given got me to the church in plenty of time (though it was good that I’d set off nice and early).

The wedding went well, though I could understand the nerves of the groom, and hate to think what I’d be like in his shoes.

On to the reception after the wedding, where I only stay briefly. My brother calls and says he’s at Sheffield station. I’ve not seen him for a few months, and he’s off to join the Navy on Tuesday, so I give him a lift back to Oxford. Was a very tight squeeze with all his stuff in the car, but gave us a good chance to catch up.

The return trip was seriously delayed also. Somewhere around Leicester they had closed the motorway, and sent people off on a diversion as they started some bridge repairs. This lead to us sitting still for a long long time.

All in all, a long day with a lot of miles covered. Fantastic weather though.
