It’s been a while since I last mentioned house buying. Well things are progressing nicely. I’ve settled on the three bed house I mentioned. I’ve put an offer in, had it accepted, instructed a solicitor and received a mortgage offer. I’m waiting for the bank and solicitor to work their magic and things to progress. I’ll let you know how it all goes. Thanks for you tips and words of advice by the way, much appreciated.

Glad you are making progress on the housing front.
However you make no mention of a surveyor, even if you are after a fairly new house a full survey is really a must. It is money well spent.
Despite the fact that your mortage company will, at your expense, have a basic survey done, it is just that very basic!
I saw reference earlier to tape measures so I expect someone has mentiond seeing that the garage is in fact wide enough to get your car in!
