Phil’s Diary - [Blog @ http://www.philsdiary.net/]
What an exhausting day. It’s been pretty much non-stop. First thing was to fill Abi’s car (thankyou Abi!), with packed boxes. Then after emptying those into the house we went into town to try and buy some curtains and a bed. We got the bed first, with delivery later in that day, and then the curtains. Back at the house we managed to fit the first set of curtains in the bedroom, but didn’t have any clips for the living room curtains, so it was out to Homebase to pick up some of those, and a bin.
Back at the house we’ve just time to drop the stuff off before going back to Oxford to the car dealers, as Abi has an appointment there to discuss a car.
With that done we head back to mine to pack another car load full, and then back to the new house to empty it. Just as we’re emptying the car the bed delivery turns up, so then we set about assembling the bed. In practice it wasn’t too hard, but in actuality it is a hot sticky day, and I sweated buckets putting a few screws in. Anyway with the bed up, we stop for a short few minutes to finish off lunch, and then pop out for more curtains hooks and finish putting the living room curtains up.
Then it’s just a matter of tidying a few things up, emptying a few boxes and heading back to Oxford.
We’re back and now we’re knackered. Anyway I promised some photos of the new place. I’ll try and get some of the garden (front and back) on Sunday if I remember.
First before we start, while the colours in the house are quite vivid and bright, they’re not quite as startling as some of these shots. I didn’t really have time to sort out the lighting, so they’re a bit out. Likewise it’s hard to take shots of some rooms, as the Field of View of my camera is quite small.
Another of the living room looking back to the dining area and into the kitchen:

So here’s part of the kitchen. Hard to take photos of not so massive rooms:

This is a pic of what will be my study. It’s not huge, hence the photo:

This is from the hallway upstairs looking back into the study and the second bedroom:

And last up the main bedroom, with the new bed in it:

Anyway, that should give you an better idea. I’m off to get some sleep now.
Oh, yes, the strange white marks on the floor. They’re where we’ve used masking take to measure and mark out where we’ll put the sofas.
