MT not Blacklisting

One of the current fun problems with running a blog like this is spam comments. As soon as diarys like this had forms which allowed you to comments, the evil (insert a while hunk of expletives, here, because I do) spammers go submitting spam to them.

With earlier versions of MT there was nothing to do until MT Blacklist came along. A lovely tool which binned any comment with dubious content. And very good at it it was.

With MT 3 came comment moderation, all comments went to be moderated before appearing live on the site. In a way this was good, but on the other it was bad. MT Blacklist came out the other day for MT3, so I’ve got that installed now.

But it’s still a problem.

The problem I have is that MT Blacklist simply isn’t blocking based on questionable content. Instead it’s forcing things to moderation too. 183 comments so far.

I don’t mind that much, but I’d really rather most of those just got obliterated, or were not allowed to be posted in the first place than me having to delete each of them, which is a tad slow.

Anyway, for now I’ve turned comments back off, or at least I hope I have. Unless you’re signed up to TypeKey, then emailing me is all you can do. Sorry.

If I figure out MT Blacklist, then I’ll turn things back on again.

I’m really sick to death of spammers.
