Phil’s Diary - [Blog @ http://www.philsdiary.net/]
So, I’ve been away on hols, I promoised a post, with pics, so here we go.
We’ve been staying on the island of Lesvos, in Greece (right next to Turkey). The weather has been much warmer than here in the UK, with shorts and a t-shirt most days.
The place is very different from the UK, I guess the things that stuck most on my mind were the weather (much warmer and dryer) the roads (much less nannying about road safety) and the food (much drier and simpler).
All in all we had a great time, and I certainly got a chance to relax and forget about work for a fortnight.
So, here’s a few photos.
The first is a picture out across to Turkey (with Molyvos close too). This was the view from the kitchen window of the villa we were staying in.
This next picture is from one of our roadtrips out to Tsonia, I think you get the idea that we’re pretty high up. This is from the roadside, no crash barriers should you leave the tarmac. Just air.
With the weather being better, there were very few clouds around, and so consequently the sunsets were very different, mostly very simple. This was one with a little more character.
One night Abi woke me up telling me to get out of bed right *now*. I did (while waking up as I lept out of bed). The reason was a scorpion in the bed (on Abi’s leg). Nasty creatures. I guess the only redeaming feature is that they can’t fly. This one was about 6inches long.
Anyway, here’s piccy of the offending critter.
And this one is what was left of it after I used broom handle on it (sorry, but I’d rather that than being stung one night).
Anyway, a really nice time, relaxing, de-stressing and generally having a nice time.

Damn, even on holiday you got to do your own 'debugging'.
