Phil’s Diary - [Blog @ http://www.philsdiary.net/]
So, Abi and I were up bright and early this morning to get off to Bruntinthorpe in Leicestershire to go racing. As with last time there was a wide variety of very exotic machinery turned up (average of 401bhp, 181mph top speed and £79000 cost). I got a few pictures, of which a few are below. Click for larger images.
So what’s in that photo that may or may not be visible? Well there was a nice collection of Ferrari’s… a 360 and a 360 Spider, a 550 and a 575. Porsche were well represented with a collection of 911Turbos, a GT3RS, a GT2, and even a RUF GT2 (boy was that fast). The brits were represented by two Aston Martins, one a DB7 Vantage, the other the new DB9. There was a BMW M3 CSL, a Mercedes SL65 and SL55, a few Noble’s a whole gaggle of TVRs a couple of Maserati’s and that bright orange thing, that’s a Lamborghini Murcielago.
The fastest speeds of the day were recorded by the Lambo, the Merc SL65 and the RUF GT2.
I had a great time, first throwing my car round the track, taking much rubber off the tyres and having a great time. It was also fantastic to be so close to those cars above launching themselves off the line and vanishing into the distance rapidly and very noisly. Some serious machines going seriously quickly.
I also managed to realise a dream of mine and drive a Ferrari. The owner of the 360 Spider is Abi’s boss who very kindly let me take his car for a few laps, and boy was it fun. It didn’t disappoint at all, being very very a very quick car indeed.
Anyway, I think we both had a good day, and returned home happy but tired.
