Phil’s Diary - [Blog @ http://www.philsdiary.net/]
It’s moan time again. Today it’s the turn of delivery companys. Yesterday I ordered some stuff from an internet company, to be delivered next working day. I thought I’d selected work as the delivery address, but for one reason or another the company selected my home address. Anyway, as it ships they email me the shipment number, and the destination. I realise the error so phone the shipping firm. They say there’s nothing they can do. Despite all their fancy tracking systems, the fact I have a shipment number, etc. etc. There’s nothing they can do. Ah well.
Today Abi had a parcel delivered to a friend. They weren’t in, so the delivery firm left it in a bin in the garden. That’s bad enough, after all the parcel was of reasonable value (a few hundred pounds), and who knows what might have happened in terms of damage to the parcel (rain etc.) or if the bin had been emptied.
For comic value the delivery person then entered in their electronic records: signed for by “green bin in garden”. The signature recorded and displayed online is that of the “bin”.
I guess it’s a thankless job. When you get it right, no one is happy, just satisfied. When you get it wrong, people complain. So I guess you just need to get it right more often.

It's one of the reasons I cannot order things online.
Just one of the disadvantages of having a job.
