So, after lots and lots of waiting (as in ordered in October, arrived today, after numerous delays), I got a copy of Gran Tursimo 4 today.
So, what are the ups and downs?
Well the ups, the graphics look a little better. Not leagues in advance of GT3, but still a little better looking. The user interface looks a little more modern too, a little tidier. Mods to the exhaust of the car change the sound, which is quite a cool idea too.
There are lots more options, like being able to have speeds in mph, rather than kph, extra tuning options (like NOS), a whole load of new tracks, cars and races.
You can tell the physics engine has been changed too.
There’s all the old familiar stuff there, licenses cars for sale, and so on.
On the downside, the main menu now scrolls all over the place, so finding stuff can be a little harder.
The biggest pain for me though is that whenever you get in a car, the game is saved, so you can’t “try” cars before you decide you like them and save. I really don’t like that.
Abi and I spent a good long time this evening playing, I picked out my MR2, and Abi her BMW and we raced each other round one of the tracks a good few times.
All in all it’s a brilliant game, and better than GT3. You’ve got to wonder though whether it’s that much better than GT3 to warranty the huge delays. Time will tell.

Is it as good as racing Abi with your real cars?
