Phil’s Diary - [Blog @ http://www.philsdiary.net/]
There wasn’t really a lot of point us going to sleep last night, because no sooner are we asleep when the alarm goes off at 1am. After much protestation from Abi we’re both up and adding the last couple of items to our bags, closing up, feeding the fish for the last time and heading out of the door. It’s a bit early, but is roughly what’s needed to make sure we get our flights on time.
So around 2am, we’re in the car heading off to Gatwick. By around 4am, we’re on the airport parking bus and off to the airport.
Once we’re checked in, it’s just gone 5am, so time for us to get some breakfast and have a look around duty free, before our flight at 7:10am.
Of course they call the flight at just gone 6am, so we head off to the other corner of the airport (Gate 101), and wait a little longer before they squeeze us on the plane.
As Abi points out, dogs would get more space if they were flying, but then they pay more.
So by about 7:15am, the first part of our trek is over and we’re off into the air.
Time in the air goes relatively quickly, with various interruptions for food, sales, announcements and so on.
And so, at just gone 12:30pm local time (2hours ahead of BST), the airplanes wing is nearly tipping in the water as it swings round to land at Mytilene.
As I wait for the our luggage to be unloaded Abi goes off in search of the keys to the house, and a car for us to get there.
Although there aren’t any free cars for us, the car rental chap has agreed to give us a lift there, so after he has a brief argument with the police (We’ve not idea what about), we head off for a drive across the island.
It only takes about an hour, but then our driver surely should be entering some motor racing events.
So here, we are 3pm and we’re at our destination, here are a few pics of where we’re staying.
First things first, we’re into the pool, it’s roasting.
