Rocket up my DSL

Our ADSL has had a rocket shoved up it this weekend. Friday night I noticed the router not connecting, and so gave it a reboot. It straight away started synching at a smidge under 5Mbit/sec. That’s a shed load more than the usual 1Mbit/sec I was getting.

It seems that I’ve been “MaxDSL’d”. So a quick note to my ISP, and more careful placement of router cables and I’m syncing at 5.5Mbit/sec and getting speeds not far below that (guess contention and overheads may account for the variance). It should also mean faster upload speeds (ie. this page should load quicker for you guys), as that’s now syncing at 0.6Mbit/sec, whereas before it was 0.25Mbit/sec.… not lightening, but at least an improvement.

Anyhow, having seen all the problem people have been having with MaxDSL, I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up joining them with the complaining, so I’ll reserve judgement for now. However downloading four times quicker than my previous speeds is a nice change.

Curiously I always get a 404 error when I open the she site but when I do a refresh it comes up all right.
