Puppy

Abi’s off to pick up her puppy, Rupert, this morning, I decided at the last minute that despite the early hour Abi could probably do with a hand, so we head off around 7:30am.

The trip to the breeders was easy enough, not too much traffic and to be honest quite long and dull. Once there a bit of chit chat and we collect Rupert in a carry cage and head home. The pup understandably doesn’t like it much and has a good whine about being imprisoned, but soon quietened down.

Back home and we’ve spent the rest of the day “bonding” with Rupert, playing with him, feeding him etc. etc. There’s quite a lot of psychology behind their development, and so we’ve got a couple of books to read.

We’re both dreading tonight (the little pup doesn’t like being alone), when Rupert has to sleep in his crate downstairs. But he’s so tired he’s asleep before we leave the room. Fingers crossed.

Make him used to sleep in a doghouse (indoors) so he gets used to sleeping in a rather small room. That way he gets more confortable when he needs to be transported in a cage (to the vet...) and he'll be less likely to claim the bed ^_^.
