Phil’s Diary - [Blog @ http://www.philsdiary.net/]
I tried my new idea last night. Previopusly with Rupert we’d go through a routine of putting him in his cage, turning off all the lights, closing the curtains, turning on his radio and then leaving. He’d then yap for 20minute or so before going to sleep.
I changed that slightly tonight and stayed with him once all the above were done. The moment he started wimpering or yapping (he couldn’t see me form his cage), I’d just remind him I was still there. He’d shut up.
I stayed watching TV for 10minutes or so, no further yaps or whining, so I turned off the telly and left.
I wasn’t awake for much longer myself, but coupled with his improved night time sleep, he seemed pretty quite for the first 30minutes, not a peep out of him.
