Juice

Our latest electricy bill showed up today, and shows that despite not leaving everything turned 24/7, we’re still using too much juice. I’m not overly worried about the environment… my main reasoning being that I think some of the so called “green” alternatives, such as energy saving lighbulbs, electric cars etc, are a bit short sighted… as in cradle-to-grave they use more energy.

I also think that rather than getting us to use less electricity (a bit like asking us all to start moving back to the stone-age), they should be trying very hard indeed to come up with alternative, clearner sources for the electricity.

Anyway, the bill is too high, we’re using too much. Part of me wonders about the meter’s accuracy, but regardless we’re now trying to cut back a bit. Computers aren’t left on 24/7 anymore, despite what we’ve been told about how little electricity they use when not doing much. Likewise other bits and pieces turned off. I don’t mind paying a little more than average, but this was getting into the silly realms.

Have you tried Good Energy (http://www.good-energy.co.uk/), for less polluting electricity supplies?
