Bang

A bit of fun and games with Rupert this evening, due to some fireworks. As you can image Rupert’s not all that keen on loud flashes and bangs. And so unfortunately when Abi took Rupert out the back to do his thing, and some bods down the street decided to let off some lou fireworks, it all went a bit crazy.

Rupert didn’t like it and went a bit mental. Scared as he was after a few circuits of the garden he promptly shot off down the side of our shed.

Our shed is in the back corner of our garden with a fence behind and alongside it. The gap between the fence and shed is around 3-4inches and narrows into the corner.

And this tight gap is where the problem lay. Rupert jammed himself in the gap, stuck between the fence and shed, and will out of our reach. Scared as he was when we managed to move he fence away a little (by pushing), and unfortunately he then jammed himself further away from us, and more tighyly between shed and fence.

At this point he couldn’t move, we couldn’t get him, and to be honest from his shaking, I’m not convinced he would have moved if he could.

So we did about the only thing we could think of, and set about destroying the back fence so we could get to him from the other side. Some bright thinking by Abi and some destruction by me, and we had the fence out of the way, and a spade levering the side fence panel away from rupert, giving Abi just enough room to pull the scared whitless Rupert out.

With him now safely reunited with Abi we did our best to perk him up a little inside, which seems to have worked quite nicely.

So, a traumatic evening for both Rupert and Abi.
