Phil’s Diary - [Blog @ http://www.philsdiary.net/]
43 of you visited the other night. It still amazes me when that happens. Suddenly I go from being nothing, a place a few people stumble across by accident (see the search madness), to somewhere that some of you are visitng by choice, knowing fullwell what’s here.
Someday it’ll work out. Someday it’ll be interesting.
Until then. Thank you.

It’s the start of the holidays, so it’s time for a nice CD (see the currentl listening on the right), and a bottle of wine.
It would be amazingly nice if you could get away with being drunk, but not having any of the downsides. I guess the only way to do that is to stay permenantly drunk. Not something I was planning on.

Dave Farquhar has a handy tutorial on putting together a news feed page, using PHP and XML. It really is rather straightforward. I had a little play and knocked something together without too many problems.
However it’s not much use a presentation tool, until I figure out the parsing of HTML codes. & for example. I need to render this as raw HTML code, not the onscreen version of it.
Perhaps when I’ve a bit more time, I’ll play a little more. It’s worth having a play though to show how simple getting an XML feed is. Also means I now understand why this place generates XML, and how it might be used.

Maccy D’s seem to be doing a new dip, sour creme & chives. Having tried it, I can authoritatively say, don’t bother. It just doesn’t work. Just not the right taste for fries. Stick with the ketchup.

Very busy day at work today. The problem with coming up with XML schemas is the sheer volume of typing.
I’m finished for a week now. Which makes for a nice break, I hope.

I’m not sure why I do these early morning posts. After all there’s not much to say. I’ve been asleep for X hours, I’ve just woken up, and at the moment it’s still dark, and I’ve got to go to work.
Today is no different.
I guess it’s because I want you to know I’m still here, still alive, still posting. I haven’t been falling behind quite so badly these days with posting, and I guess that a first morning post is my opportunity to stay on top of that, and let you know that I’m still here.
